About the Author

Stephen Aitken

Stephen Aitken is a Canadian author/illustrator who has worked most of his life in the publishing industry and is most known as an author/illustrator of children's books. His books, stories and poems have been published in Canada, China, India, East Africa, Lebanon, Turkey, UK and the US. Passionate about wildlife (and the diversity of life) , conservation and living in harmony with our planet and its wonderful inhabitants, Stephen's books, both fiction, narrative non-fiction and informational are a reflection of this passion. He is Senior Editor of Biodiversity, an international peer-reviewed science journal published by Taylor & Francis in the UK. He also is the Executive Secretary of Biodiversity Conservancy International a Canadian-based charity that supports on-the-ground conservation/restoration projects, environmental education workshops and biodiversity research. Stephen maintains a studio in the Himalayas of India where he writes, creates and paints in multiple media. He is currently working on an iPad Pro using Procreate. An active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Stephen is also chair of the Membership Committee of the US-based Picture Book Artist's Association (PBAA) .
