About the Author
Carly de Castro
Pressed Juicery co-founder Carly De Castro, graduated with a B.A. from Kenyon College, and got a job working as an entertainment publicist in New York City, where she found it virtually impossible to balance a lifestyle of late night dinners and work events without feeling completely drained by the end of each week. Taking her interest in health and vitality to the next level, she enrolled in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and began to put her day job on the back burner. In learning about every facet of holistic health, from raw food to macrobiotics and more, Carly did the math and concluded that the benefits of every program multiplied when you added one component: fresh juice.Carly's juicer had become her biggest ally in the battle against everything from illness, fatigue, weight gain, and even depression. As long as she was juicing, she could indulge in the foods she loved and had energy to devote to work and fun. Whether committing to a daily dose of vegetable juice or a week-long cleanse, it was clear that she was onto something, but realized that most of the people around her were still living in a perpetual food coma. She wanted to teach them what she'd learned and how to incorporate the information in a realistic and enjoyable way. After graduating as a Certified Holistic Health Coach with a degree from the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, Carly traveled to India to learn traditional medicine. When she returned to the U.S., she decided it was time to move back to her hometown, Los Angeles, partner with her two close friends, and devote herself full time to her passion.
