About the Author

Molly Hanson

From a very young age, creativity has been a constant companion for Molly Hanson, and she has throughout her life sought and embraced any way she could find to express her ideas. When she made her first quilt 11 years ago she found an outlet that had yet been rivaled for the creativity, and she was hooked. She loves the whole process especially coming up with her own designs, and is well known for being fearless in her quilting adventures, she truly is not afraid to make a mistake, or fail even. She loves to try new things. When she tried free motion quilting her head began to swirl with all the possibilities that being able to add the extra layer of art to her quilts would provide. She loved the control being able to quilt her own quilts gave her over the artistic process. She was officially hooked. She spent a year quilting every spare second she got and sketching her quilting designs when she wasn't quilting them. With hours and hours of practice she saw quick improvement and enjoyed making some of those ideas swirling through her head a reality. Since then she has quilted for customers including fabric companies, authors, bloggers and pattern companies, has had a pattern in a magazine, has had her work featured in videos and advertising for a fabric company, has quilted projects that are published in a book, and has designed and quilted quilts in major shows. The highlight of it all for her has been writing this book and hopefully inspiring others to join her in the ability to quilt their own quilts, and have control of their process and how it all turns out from start to finish.
