He lives in Southwestern France with his American wife and a menagerie of animals. His life-long passion for cooking plus a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes led to writing his first cook book, Delicious Dishes for Diabetics: Eating Well with Type 2 Diabetes.

Robin's mother suffered with Type 1 Diabetes all her life and died of a sudden heart attack linked to her condition. So when Robin received his diagnosis in his mid-fifties, he took it seriously. By adjusting his cooking, he managed to control his blood sugar, keeping it in the "normal" range, for six years. (He also took up walking for exercise.) His passion for Mediterranean cuisine, generally acknowledged to be one of the healthiest ways of eating, and his wry humor inform his cookbook--which is illustrated with watercolors of his home in France. He blogs regularly on food, cooking and French rural life at http://robin-ellis.net/.
