The Register-Guard is pleased to bring you this pictorial retrospective of life in Lane County from the mid-1850s to the late 1930s. If its true that a picture tells a thousand words, this book contains volumes. These pictures dont presume to record the important moments of history. They merely offer glimpses of life, often everyday life, in Lane County, focusing on commerce and industry, agriculture, schools, sports, the University of Oregon, transportation, community groups and more. We want to thank the many local residents and organizations who shared priceless photos with us. This project would not have been possible without the generous participation of the Lane County Historical Museum, the Springfield Museum, and the University of Oregon Knight Library.
