About the Author

Deborah Fisher

Deborah Fisher grew up sewing dolls, making odd things and watching her mother make quilts. She has a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. After 15 years as a fine artist she now designs dolls, odd things, and quilts. She is the director and quilt designer for the Bright Hopes Collaborative Quilt Project, which she co-founded with her mother in 2003. Through their QuiltGIVING, QuiltCOMMUNITY, and QuiltWORKS programs, Bright Hopes donates one-of-a-kind quilts to families living in temporary housing and offers on-site quilting workshops as well as community programs. She lives with her nifty husband and two magical daughters on Long Island, NY.
