Chef/Owner Andy Husbands brings over 30 years of experience and a reputation as one of Boston's most celebrated culinary experts to the kitchen at the Smoke Shop, his latest restaurant located in Cambridge, MA. Making its official debut in June 2016, the 150-seat barbecue destination culminates Husbands' continued success as an award-winning pit master and pays homage to his extensive background in the competitive barbecue circuit. The Smoke Shop showcases old school-style barbecue with a modern twist, featuring staples like Pulled Pork, Brisket, Fried Chicken, Hot Links and more.

Long before becoming a top influencer in the food scene, the Seattle native got his start in the industry working at a bakery in Needham, MA. He continued to pursue his passion at Johnson & Wales University where he graduated with degrees in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management and went on to work at Cambridge's beloved East Coast Grill, working under the helm of Award-Winning Chef and his Mentor Chris Schlesinger. In 1995, Husbands set out on a cross-country journey discovering a new kind of love for food through a variety of experiences like working at notable San Francisco restaurants and living on a farm in New Mexico.

Husband's returned to the city of Boston to embark on his own venture in 1996 by opening neighborhood bistro Tremont647 and later, Sister Sorel. It was during this time that he began developing his own unique style of cooking through bold and adventurous flavors that guests can experience at any one of his restaurants today.

Husbands' honest and approachable fare has earned him local and national praise from The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Wine Spectator, Star Chefs and others. He has competed in the 6th season of FOX Television Network's fiery "Hell's Kitchen" and is internationally-recognized for his BBQ team, IQUE BBQ, who became the first New England team to win the World Champions of BBQ Title in 2009 at the famed Jack Daniels World Championship in Tennessee. Husbands has also been acknowledged by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association as the 2014 MRA Chef of the Year. In addition to these accomplishments, he has co-authored several cookbooks including "Wicked Good Burgers", "Wicked Good BBQ", "Grill to Perfection", "The Fearless Chef" and will be adding "Pitmaster", a fifth addition to his impressive lineup that is assuming a spring 2017 release date.

Deeply rooted in the community, Husbands is a large contributor to Share Our Strength, the nation's leading hunger relief organization, as well as an active board member of the Massachusetts Restaurant Association and a Rodman Celebration Restaurant Chair. In his spare time, Husbands enjoys teaching at Pine Street Inn and spending time with his wife, Rice, at their home in
