About the Author

Christopher Irving

A popular culture historian in New York, Christopher Irving has been writing in the comic book industry since the late 1990s. His work combines interview quotes and research with a hard-hitting new journalism style, with the ultimate goal of writing comics history that is also enticing and entertaining enough for the non-comic book fan. His work as Associate Editor and contributor to Comic Book Artist magazine helped garner five consecutive Eisner awards for Best Comics Related Periodical, and he has written four books on different aspects of comics history. His work as writer, with photographer Seth Kushner, on the Graphic NYC website was retooled as the book Leaping Tall Buildings: The Origins of American Comics, and has been reviewed in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Wired, A/V Club, and Publisher's Weekly.
