Mary NurrieStearns

Mary NurrieStearns is a yoga teacher and psychotherapist with a counseling practice in Tulsa, OK, who travels nationally teaching yoga, mindfulness, and meditation. For ten years, she was editor of Personal Transformation magazine. Now, Mary is coauthor of Yoga For Anxiety and Soulful Living and has produced CDs on yoga and meditation as healing practices. With her husband, Rick NurrieStearns, she leads transformational meditation and yoga retreats.A quiet person at heart, she lives in a wooded area near Tulsa with her husband and pets, amidst the animals of the forest. She loves the incredible practices of yoga and credits them with giving her profound healing and abiding happiness. She often says to herself and her students, "Keep getting on your yoga mat and meditation cushion. Doing so will transform your life in more wonderful ways than you can imagine!"Mary has discovered that being relaxed feels wonderful! While this may sound obvious, as one of the many who has suffered from anxiety, she honestly didn't know what it was like to be truly contented deep inside. Then yoga grew strong roots in her and changed all that. Now, with heart-felt enthusiasm, she reassures her students that when yoga takes a hold of them, it will connect them lovingly to their innermost self and they will know their inner essence. And they will discover, just like she did, that all along, inner peace was inside, waiting to come out.
