About the Author

Norman Link

Norman Link (1959- ) was born in Port Jefferson, New York and after a few moves ended up being raised primarily in the San Francisco Bay area. He started training in martial arts in 1968 and in 1977 settled in with the University of California at Berkeley's Martial Arts Program (UCMAP) which represent over 1200 students and six martial arts. During his ongoing tenure at Berkeley he has served in numerous positions ranging from program administrator to tournament director for numerous events. While his main interest remains in Hapkido/Yongmudo he has also spent significant time practicing Jujitsu, Taekwondo, and Iaido and teaching self-defense and rape prevention classes. He currently serves as head instructor for the Yongmudo program and as Associate director for the program. His academics culminated in earning a Ph.D. and work in cancer research. He currently serves as a Senior Scientist at a Bay area company.
