Deborah Newton

For more than 25 years, Deborah Newton has designed knitted garments for all the major craft and knitting magazines, as well as for many yarn companies, and provided fabric designs for the Seventh Avenue garment industry.  She is a regular columnist for Vogue Knitting magazine, and her informative articles have appeared in many other knitting publications.  Deborah is the author of numerous books, including Designing Knitwear (Taunton Press) , which was in continuous print for more than 25 years. Her book Finishing School: A Master Class for Knitters (Sixth & Spring) was chosen as one of Amazon's TOP TEN CRAFT BOOKS OF 2011.  Deborah's newest book, Good Measure: Knit a Perfect Fit Every Time (Sixth & Spring) , was chosen by Amazon as one of their 15 Top Craft Inspiration Books of Fall 2015. Deborah loves to teach. She speaks about and teaches design and knitting-related topics nationwide. She is a regular teacher at the Vogue Knitting Live Events, and teaches exclusive classes. Every year in September, Deborah teaches her annual KNITWEAR DESIGN WORKSHOP on Block Island, Rhode Island, hosted by North Light Fibers. Deborah lives and works in her favorite city of Providence, Rhode Island, with her husband Paul Di Filippo, science fiction and mystery writer. She has a black and tan cocker spaniel named Moxie and an ill-tempered calico cat called Penny Century, named after the Jaime Hernandez character.
