About the Author
Drawing on her experience as the child of Jamaican immigrants, born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Patrice Gopo enjoys exploring issues of race, immigration, and belonging. Her essays have appeared in a variety of publications, including Creative Nonfiction, Gulf Coast, Full Grown People, and online in The New York Times and The Washington Post. Her radio commentaries have appeared on Charlotte, North Carolina's NPR Station WFAE 90.7. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and she is the recipient of a 2016 Regional Artist Project Grant and a 2017-2018 NC Arts Council Artist Fellowship. Patrice lives with her family in North Carolina.
