Dan Golding

Dan was born in Ireland in 1971 and moved to the UK in 1985. He now lives on the South coast of England and loves the outdoors lifestyle associated with that part of the world. His triathlon journey started 5 years ago when his brother in law talked him into doing a sprint triathlon. He remembers coming out of the swim feeling really green and getting on the bike and hardly being able to breath, the run was a blur and he crossed the finish line exhausted and vowed to never do one again! That year he got hooked and did several more sprints. The next year he moved up to Olympic distance and fell in love with the sport. The year after he did his first Ironman event in Austria and even got a coach. After his first year he joined his local triathlon club and remembers feeling so slow and behind everyone else but the people were really friendly so he stuck with it and is now the chairman of the club and enjoys training with them on a regular basis. He remembers what it was like in the beginning, the feeling of being out of it, everyone looking really professional, they had all the right gear and looked so fit and fast. But he also remembers it being fun and a great journey learning everything he could about the sport and meeting really great people who helped so much and gave so much useful advice. He wants you to enjoy that journey too and help you become the best you can be so you can see what is possible and what you are capable of.
