About the Author

Annabelle Lee

Raising four hungry boys to become healthy, strapping young men, meant as their mother, Annabelle Lee spent plenty of time in the family's farmhouse kitchen. When time rewarded her with extra pounds and painful auto-immune symptoms she began to search for answers. Learning that grains are problematic for many people and that extracted starches (often used in gluten/grain-free baking) can raise blood-sugar and promote weight gain, Annabelle chose simple, 'real food' ingredients and began developing her own recipes.

Sharing her discoveries on her blog, CaliforniaCountryGal.com, soon became the family business. Her creations include a line of grain & starch free baking mixes, a line of vegan baked goods for the food service industry, as well as her first book "SWEET SECRETS" and her newest book, "THE ULTIMATE GRAIN-FREE COOKBOOK".

After spending her youth running around avocado groves, Annabelle left her 'tomboy' days to work for more than 15 years as a print and commercial model in LA and NYC. Annabelle and her husband have finally settled in the southern California countryside, where Annabelle's motto today is... "Silly people...Grains are for the birds!"
