About this item

* The authors, who have PhDs in clinical psychology, are sexual violence prevention researchers and mothers. They are uniquely positioned to write this book.* One in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys is a victim of child sexual abuse. 20% of adult females and 5-10% of adult males recall a childhood sexual assault incident. Over the course of their lifetime, 28% of U.S. youth ages 14 to 17 had been sexually victimized. Children are most vulnerable to child sexual abuse between the ages of 7 and 13.* There is a strong market for books written for kids on how to protect themselves, but there aren't many books written to empower and equip adults with the knowledge and tools. Most books published are academic rather than for the layman, and the last trade book on the topic was published before 2010.
