About the Author

Robin Pickens

Robin Pickens makes art and designs to share inspiration and creativity. One constant in her work is a love of color and nature, especially through florals and other growing wonders. Robin's passions have found a beautiful home with creating coloring books for Fox Chapel Publishing/Design Originals. Robin's Seek, Find, Color series celebrates nature and gardens and inspiration with a hidden surprise somewhere in the image. Her Mid-Century Retro designs also explore nature and living in a modern aesthetic. She loves to see the different approaches others take to coloring with her images.

Robin loves creating art that is both inspirational and encouraging. Her Seize the Day calendars for Sellers Publishing (she is now working on her 8th year of calendars) are available in several formats and share quotes and colorful flowers. They have blossomed into notecards and gift books for caregivers, Moms, teachers, and graduates that share those sentiments.

Robin studied art and design at the University of Michigan School of Art, earning her BFA. She worked for numerous years in the broadcast and entertainment industry, creating animations and show packages for television. She has been the recipient of numerous awards within the broadcast design industry. After years as an Art Director, Design Director and Manager, she decided she was not doing enough of the creative work she greatly loved. She continued her education at Otis College of Art and Design in textile and surface design and started licensing her artwork to a range of companies. She now has her designs on giftware, calendars, coloring books, dishware, rugs, wall art, as well as other products. In 2015 Robin won the spoonflower.com Fabric8 competition, including the opportunity to work with Moda Fabrics. She designs and makes quilt patterns to go with her fabric lines and enjoys sharing her passion with other makers and crafters.

Robin currently lives in sunny Los Angeles, California with her equally creative husband, their two teenagers and two noisy but lovable dogs.
