Twelve-year-old Charlotte lives on a plantation in Richmond, Virginia, where the American Civil War is raging. About the Author
Nikki Shannon Smith is the author of seventeen published and forthcoming books for children. She is from Oakland, California, but she now lives in Woodland, CA with her husband and two children. She has worked in elementary education for over twenty-five years, and writes everything from board books to young adult novels.
