About the Author

Joe Cuhaj

Author and freelance writer Joe Cuhaj hails from New Jersey but moved to Alabama 40 years ago with his wife who is from the state's Port City, Mobile. He quickly became one of those Yankees who fell in love with the state's rich biodiversity and landscapes and never went home. Combining his love of hiking and writing, the former radio broadcaster has penned seven outdoor recreation guides including Hiking Alabama, Paddling Alabama, and his latest, Hiking Waterfalls of Alabama to name only a few. His love of history afforded him the chance to write three historical books. Two titles focus on the rich history of the 320 year old city of Mobile - Baseball in Mobile and Hidden History of Mobile. His latest book, Space Oddities: Forgotten Stories of Mankind's Exploration of Space, is a fascinating collection of obscure, offbeat, and untold stories of the space race. Joe has produced a number of humorous short story podcasts, Joe Cuhaj's Shorts, that tell the story of growing up "back in the day", all loosely based on faulty memories. The podcasts are currently available on his website, Joe-Cuhaj.com, along with more information on his books and upcoming appearances.
