About the Author
Dave Ermini was born in Yonkers, New York in 1962. The son of a police officer and high school English teacher, he attended the prestigious Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY on a full athletic scholarship. After graduating from Hackley, he attended Colgate University from which he received a B.A., majoring in Fine Arts and Architecture. He was a student in 1983 at the Institute for Architecture and Urban Studies in Manhattan, and went on to earn a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Virginia.A registered architect and member of the American Institute of Architects, he has been practicing in Virginia Beach, Virginia since 1993. He currently holds the position of Senior Architect and Associate with HBA Architecture and Interior Design. Dave has managed the design of numerous hospitality projects, as well as office buildings, multi-family residential, and entertainment venues throughout the Hampton Roads region. In 1999 he worked with music promoter Bill Reid to transform the abandoned Downtown Athletic Club in Norfolk, VA - a building that had once been a turn of the century movie palace - into what is now the NorVa Theater. In 2008, the NorVa was named one of the top five rock venues in the U.S. by Rolling Stone Magazine.Dave has also participated in large-scale mixed-use master plans throughout Virginia and beyond. He was part of a team that worked on plans for revitalizing the Historic Downtown and Harbor areas of Galveston, Texas after Hurricane Ike devastated the island in 2008, and assisted with the Strategic Growth Area plan for the Pembroke area (Central Business District) of Virginia Beach.He has been married to a wonderful (and stunningly beautiful) woman, Nancy Ermini, since 1995. They live in Virginia Beach with their two children and two dogs.
