Romy Wyllie started writing in her mid-sixties after her home survived a devastating wildfire that destroyed fifty percent of her neighborhood. Although Wyllie's book on Down syndrome has taken eighteen years to reach publication, she has written two books on architecture: Caltech's Architectural Heritage: From Spanish Tile to Modern Stone (2000, Balcony Press, Los Angeles); and Bertram Goodhue: His Life and Residential Architecture (2007, W. W. Norton, New York and London).
