When California zookeeper Theodora "Teddy" Bentley sees an otter clutching a new smart phone while swimming in the local marsh, she rescues the expensive instrument. Inspecting it, Teddy discovers that it had taken a picture of a man in the act of being murdered. Since otters can't talk, Teddy soon finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation that almost ends in her own death.
