From elaborate Halloween decorations to the Stream of Dreams fish display across the fence at Stephen and Rene's school, it seems no art is safe. Rene's brother, Attila, has been cursing those model fish since he first had to make them as part of his community service. So everyone thinks Attila is behind it when they disappear. But, grumpy teen though he is, Attila can do no wrong in Rene's eyes, so she enlists Stephen's help to catch the real criminal.

Sylvia McNicoll

Winner of the 2019 Hamilton Arts Fiction Award for her novel Body Swap, Sylvia McNicoll has written over 35 young adult novels. She is the past president of the Canadian Society of Children's Authors and Performers (CANSCAIP) and a past member of the board of directors for Access Copyright as well as the former features editor for Today's Parent, Toronto. For her historical fiction novel Revenge on the Fly, she spoke in South Korea at the Seoul International Book Fair and toured Colombian libraries and schools. In 2020 Sylvia's middle grade Great Mistake Mysteries was translated into Russian and in 2022 Body Swap was translated into Korean. Recently McNicoll, working as director with Epilogue Productions, orchestrated the videoing of over 52 authors and illustrators for the inaugural I Read Canadian Day. What she's most passionate about besides her family, dog, writing and reading, and inspiring kids to write and read, is creating a better work world for writers.
