Allison Hoffman
Allison Hoffman started CraftyisCool when she had trouble finding cute stuffed toys for her little boys. She crocheted her first amigurumi and after many requests for patterns, started up an online shop and a Ravelry store soon after. She created a Conan O'Brien doll and teamed up with Mike Mitchell from "I'm With Coco" for a giveaway. The doll went viral and was blogged about by everyone from Perez Hilton to Entertainment Weekly. After sending a crocheted blimp to Conan O'Brien on a whim, he posted a picture of himself with his gift on his blog, Twitter page, and Facebook showing off Allison's handiwork to the world. Soon after came media attention from Pee-wee Herman, who fell in love with Allison's Pee-wee's Playhouse amigurumi collection. Since then, she's created dolls of many famous faces, and has had the privilege of appearing on the Martha Stewart Show, The Knit Show with Vickie Howell, and BBC radio. Allison regularly designs for several yarn companies. Her work has been featured in several art galleries in LA, New York, Miami, and San Diego. Allison's passion is pop culture with a nostalgic twist. In the Fall of 2013 her first crochet book was published by Lark Crafts, a division of Sterling Publishing, AmiguruME: Make Cute Crochet People, followed by AmiguruME Pets: Make Cute Crochet Animals, and her latest book coming in the Spring of 2019, AmiguruME Eats: Make Cute Crochet Food.
