About the Author

Stephen Voltz

Growing up in San Francisco, Stephen was inspired by the vibrant street performing scene that surrounded him as a kid. He taught himself to juggle at an early age and to eat fire when he was a teenager and took to the street corners himself with his brother John.Their act stood out primarily because it featured a William Tell-like stunt in which Stephen would place an apple on his brother's back and chop it in half with a two-foot steel machete, wielding the machete so as to slice the apple neatly in two but stopping the blade just in time to avoid maiming his brother. Their mother did not approve.Finding street performing an impractical way to make a living - and the street corners in San Francisco an uncomfortably cold and foggy place to work - he grew up, got a J.D. from New York University and had a succesful practice as a trial and appellate lawyer in Boston for 20 years. He returned to performing again in the late 90's. In 2006 along with his performing and business partner Fritz Grobe, Stephen launched Eepybird Studios with the blockbuster viral video sensation "The Extreme Diet Coke and Mentos Experiments."Stephen, Fritz and Eepybird have gone on to create another viral hit almost every year since and have worked on viral video projects with sponsors and partners including Google, Coca-Cola, McDonald's, OfficeMax, Nokia and ABC Family.
