About the Author

Thalma Lobel

Thalma Lobel is a professor of psychology at Tel Aviv University, an author and a lecturer. Her new book is titled Whatever Works: The Small Cues That Make a Surprising Difference in Our Success at Work- and How to Create a Happier Office. Her previous book: Sensation : The New Science of Physical Intelligence , was translated to many languages including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Italian, Danish, German Dutch and Hebrew. Lobel was the chair of the school of Psychological sciences and the Dean of students of Tel Aviv University. Thalma Lobel research focuses on two main issues, embodied cognition- the influence of physical and bodily sensations on our decisions, emotions, judgments and behavior and gender differences and gender roles. Her work has been published in prestigious journals including the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Evolution and Human Behavior. Lobel received her B.A, M.A in clinical Psychology and a Ph.D in psychology from Tel Aviv University. She did her post doctorate studies at Harvard University. She was a visiting professor at Harvard University and a visiting scholar at University of California San Diego (UCSD) , New York University (NYU) and Tufts University. Lobel lectures around the world to employees and executives of various companies such as Hi -Tech companies and banks, and to the general public. Topics include negotiations skills, interview skills, success at work, creativity, happiness at work, and the influence of our physical environment and bodily sensations on our decisions, judgments, emotions and behavior.
