About the Author

Robert Ashton

I describe myself as an author, social entrepreneur and occasional campaigner. I passionately believe that books can inspire change and for many years, wrote books based on my own experience that help people start and grow their own venture. A Quaker, I am moved to strive to make the world a fairer place, and in 2019 wrote Any Spare Change? a book that explores rough sleeping and homelessness. I met some amazing people and the book contains many of the stories I heard as I set out to find what we can all do to help those we encounter begging in on the street. In 2020 I graduated with an MA in Creative Non-Fiction at the University of East Anglia. That was my first experience of university life and took my writing to a new level. I have also now reached state retirement age, so have moved on from business writing to work on books that I hope can help anyone see the world they live in differently. There really is more to life than work!Right now I am working on a book that shows how the sense of community and belonging that were taken for granted 100 years ago in rural England, are slowing returning as we rebuild our lives and economy after the recent pandemic. I am also interested in the way we are dealing (or not) with the growing climate crisis and planning a very personal book that will chart my own journey to living a comfortable, but fossil fuels free life.www.robertashton.co.uk Tweet @robertashton1
