About this item

Experience the simple joy of a dogs day at the beach in this vibrant picture book from the acclaimed author-illustrator of Nest, which the New York Times Book Review said was certain to please aesthetically minded children and adults and that Shelf Awareness called a quiet masterpiece. As with her debut picture book, Nest, Hurley lets her bright, clean illustrations do her storytelling, limiting the text on each page to a single, evocative word Publishers Weekly in this delightful depiction of a dogs day at the beach and the joy a simple ball can bring. With minimal prose and illustrations that echo the patterns of nature, Fetch is a story of the thrill of adventure and the joy of returning home.,

About the Author

Jorey Hurley

I'm an artist and author based in San Francisco, California. My inspiration comes from animals, plants, and the beauty in daily life living in the Presidio National Park with my husband, kids, and dog. I draw something every day, and post it at www.joreyhurley.com. My fine art prints appear on the sets of The Mindy Project, and recent design and illustration projects include work for The Food Network, Olli Ella, Papyrus, Chance, and Minted. From 2005 to 2010, I was on the design team at Hable Construction, a textile design company based in New York. Prior to Hable, I had my own bag line, which was sold at boutiques in the San Francisco Bay Area. I studied art at Princeton and design at FIT. Three years of law school provided an amazing intellectual challenge, but didn't draw me away from the arts. Ultimately, the best preparation for my work has been a family chock full of artists: my mother is a sculptor, my brother is a photographer, my father is a filmmaker, my husband is an architect, my grandmother was bronze sculptor, and both grandfathers were painters.
