About this item

Boys and girls will flock to Warren, a quirky chicken who wants to find his inner greatness.Warren, a bespectacled chicken, is bored with the everyday chicken routine: peck, cluck, feed; peck, cluck, feed. He leaves the farm to discover what makes him special - and with the help of an unhatched egg and a snarky, hungry rat, he just might get some answers. Filled with simple text, speech balloons, and engaging illustrations, this easy-to-follow story is a blend between a picture book and a chapter book, making it an ideal bridge for independent readers.

About the Author

Sarah Dillard

Sarah Dillard studied art at Wheaton College and illustration at Rhode Island School of Design. Her author illustrated books include the popular Mouse Scouts series, the critically-acclaimed young graphic reader, Extraordinary Warren and its sequel, Extraordinary Warren Saves the Day. Her picture books include Blueberry Cake, I Don't Like Rain and I Wish it Would Snow. Sarah is inspired by the beautiful mountain she lives on, and doesn't feel a day is complete without a walk in the woods. For further inspiration she dips into her collection of vintage children's books, including Margaret Wise Brown's The Little Fur Family, Maurice Sendak's Nutshell Library, and the Beatrix Potter books. She hopes to create picture books that transport young minds into magical worlds, just as she was as a child. Sarah lives in Vermont with her husband and chocolate lab.
