Gina Lee Kim

Originally from San Francisco Bay Area, Gina Lee Kim is a self-taught watercolorist with a nursing and biology background. Gina's artistic vision is to amaze the eye and empower the heart. In her new book, "Fast & Fun Watercolor Painting Techniques: No Drawing Required" (North Light Books) , Gina takes you on a prismatic journey through the color wheel using the beauty of watercolor--enhanced with mixed-media elements--as a freeing artistic approach. Her secret to painting is to let color be the creative and compassionate driving force rather than trying to render a perfect illustration first. After being published in several magazines, Gina was asked to create four watercolor art lessons for Cloth Paper Scissors (Interweave) and four watercolor workshop DVDs/videos exploring textures, resists, monoprinting and watermedia (Artist Network) . She lives north of Chicago with her husband and their young son who's really into space.
