She is the author of the bestseller, 90-Minute Quilts: 15 Projects You Can Quilt in an Afternoon (Krause, 2006) , which she wrote as her "healing-through-creativity" response to 9-11. In it, she quips, "They don't call quilts 'comforters' for nothing!"

She is also the author of MORE 90-Minute Quilts: 20 Quick and Easy Projects with Triangles and Squares (Krause, 2011.)

Her free, online video showing the 90-Minute Quilt methods is called, "How to Stitch a Quilt in 90 Minutes with Meryl Ann Butler." She blogs at www.MerylAnn.com.

Trained in traditional drawing and painting by master of realism, Harold R. Stevenson, who was a student of Norman Rockwell, she was running her own art school when she took her first quilt class in 1982. Meryl Ann's passion for art and color was suddenly married to fiber and texture as she dove headlong into the world of quilting.

Back in those days, quilters still cut strips with scissors, as the rotary cutter had only been recently introduced. And she remembers the exhilaration she and her quilter friends felt when pin dot fabric was introduced in an exciting and radical new style: with colored dots instead of the standard white!

We've come a long way, baby!

Meryl Ann's fiber artwork has been featured in over 100 magazines and periodicals including Newsday, and a wide variety of trade publications.

Her quilted fiber art is in hundreds of collections around the world, including those of His Holiness, the late Swami Satchidananda, the Hon. Nelson Mandela, Cathy and Ed O'Neill, Dr. Caroline Myss, Dr. Barbara King, Dr. Norman Shealy, the Hon. and Mrs. Dennis Kucinich, Harpo Productions, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Productions, The Findhorn Community (Scotland) , City Hall (Moss, Norway) , The St. Petersburg Peace Committee (Russia) , School 119 (Odessa, Ukraine) and the University of Peace in Costa Rica.
