About the Author

Moira Rose Donohue

I began writing for children after my defection from the practice of banking law. Since then, I have had over 35 books published, with more to come. Most of what I write is nonfiction because I love learning about new things--like animals, history and people.I am thrilled to report my most recent release from Sleeping Bear Press: STOMPIN' AT THE SAVOY: How Chick Webb Became King of the Drums, which has received many complimentary reviews. And I am excited to announce two upcoming books: LITTLE KIDS FIRST BIG BOOK OF ROCKS, MINERALS AND SHELLS, with National Geographic (Summer 2021) and TAPPING FEET, a history of tap dancing, with Reycraft Books, (Fall, 2022) . Other recent books include TREE FROGS (Life in the Leaves) , which received a starred review from Booklist, and THE U.S. CONSTITUTION (Why it Matters to You) , both from Scholastic Children's Press. Also released in 2017 was THE INVASION OF NORMANDY with North Star Editions (a Junior Library Guild selection) . I'm originally from New York City, spent many years living in Virginia (outside DC) but now live in St. Petersburg, FL. I love hockey, tap dancing, old movies, and dogs.
