About the Author
Aline Alexander Newman
Aline Alexander Newman, known for her dozens of "animal anecdote" articles written for National Geographic Kids magazine, is a former teacher with a Master of Science degree in education. Still a collector of true animal anecdotes, she now turns them into award-winning, non-fiction books for kids. "Animal Superstars," a NGKids chapter book, was named to Amazon's 2013 list of Best Books of the Year. Her Young Adult book, "How to Speak Dog," won the Animal Behavior Society's Outstanding Book Award for 2014. Some of her titles even include characters - like a loon tangled in fishing line, a rascally rabbit, or an abandoned dog - drawn from Aline's own life. Aline is a wife, mother, grandmother, and animal lover. She and her husband, Neil, and their dog, Moose, divide their time between an old farmhouse in northern New York and a seasonal camp in the Adirondack Mountains. An engaging speaker, Aline uses her knowledge, humor, and rapport with kids to excite them about reading and writing.
