She brings a rich background to her current role as Fellowship Director for the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. For the past 34 years, she has explored the world of natural medicine, studying and practicing massage therapy, midwifery, herbal medicine and martial arts before attending medical school at the University of New Mexico.Dr. Low Dog has been an invited speaker at more than 500 national and international scientific and medical conferences; published more than 60 journal articles and chapters for medical textbooks, serves on eight editorial boards including Prevention, Menopause, HerbalGram and Delicious Living; authored Women's Health in Complementary and Integrative Medicine by Elsevier, co-edited Integrative Women's Health, by Oxford University Press, co-authored National Geographic's Medicinal Guide to Herbs, National Geographic's Life is Your Best Medicine, and most recently authored National Geographic's Healthy at Home.
