From time immemorial, a river called Long Man has coursed through East Tennessee, bringing sustenance and trade to the people along its banks. Now the Tennessee Valley Authority plans to dam the river and flood the town of Yuneetah to bring electricity and jobs to the region. Most of the town has been evacuated, but Annie Clyde Dodson is determined her three-year-old daughter, Gracie, will inherit the family?s land. Then Gracie goes missing.
