Born on the same day three years apart, Shawna and her sister Julie grew up in Illinois with access to their father's Silver Age comic collection and a mutual love of TV & Film, particularly, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Sherlock Holmes, John Wayne westerns, and Katharine Hepburn comedies.
After more than a decade working at Disney, Shawna couldn't fight the writing bug any longer and left her cushy I.T. job to pursue her dream in Los Angeles. She dove head-first into writing, selling a webseries, MARS ALPHA with Bernie Su to Crackle, helping Ashley Edward Miller and Zack Stentz develop their features, TV series, and novels, and was the Writers' Assistant on Season 2 of CW's THE 100. The sisters joined forces, and after their first TV pilot script was optioned by Kevin Costner, they wrote together on Pemberley Digital's Emmy winning webseries, EMMA APPROVED. They are currently writing on Season 4 of CW's action-packed sci-fi show, THE 100 and the new Batgirl and the Birds of Prey comic for DC Comics.
