CAROL POTENZA decided to start writing fiction as a hobby and was startled when her debut novel won the Tony Hillerman Prize. She loves to write about crime and science and mystery but is, at some point, expecting a visit from some shadowy government agency about her Internet search history because it always seems to involve poisons and murder. She would like to add a little more horror to her mysteries and thrillers because of that wonderful, shivery, paranoid feeling she gets late at night when she reads scary stuff--so look for that in upcoming books. She and her husband, Leos, live in Las Cruces, New Mexico, but love to travel all over the most beautiful state in the Union, New Mexico. (Yes, it is.)
