About this item

The Sandpiper's Spell invokes ritual with its meditative vignettes of reflection and vision quest. The poems are deep dives into fragmented memory and experience, journeying in myriad simultaneous directions, seeking the forgotten formula for new creative life in the face of spiritual eclipse. Short stanzas travel a liminal tightrope, hovering just above death at every turn, but also permeated by rising energy and a promise of renewal. The effect is one of ceremony and reclamation in honor of the spirit and consciousness of place. From the Georgia low country to the Ancient City (the author's hometown of Saint Augustine) , the clear streams of the Smoky Mountains to the corn snow foothills of the Rockies. Within the cityscapes of New York, Hong Kong, Helsinki, Saint Petersburg, and into the dream lands between consciousness, the author walks in two worlds, fully and with quiet, deliberate footsteps.
