About the Author

Eddie Price

Eddie Price grew up in western Kentucky and taught for 36 years as a history teacher and college instructor. "Widder's Landing" is set along the Ohio River in 1811-1815 and portrays life in those rapidly changing times. It also examines Kentucky's vital contribution to the War of 1812. To make his historical novel authentic he traveled to the places in the novel, fired and serviced black powder rifles, plowed with mules, worked in pioneer villages, cooked with fireplace utensils, and interviewed hundreds of park rangers, re-enactors and historians--and spent countless hours researching in libraries and archives.

After retiring from teaching, Price hit the trail with "Widder's Landing," and has met thousands of interesting people along the way. He is equally at home speaking to grade school, middle school, high school, college and university classes as he is with senior citizens, historical societies, DAR, SAR, Daughters of 1812, and Society of 1812 groups. He is now a Kentucky Humanities Council Speakers Bureau presenter and can be found in numerous locations in Kentucky, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Florida and beyond. He presents in authentic costume and brings along period music to accompany an educational powerpoint program that involves the audience. Price also presents a program for writers that focuses on the marketing process. See all of his programs at his website:
