Gary S. Williams's "The Forts of Ohio: A Guide to Military Stockades" is a short & yet actually very well written book that takes one of the more comprehensive looks at the history of the forts in Ohio history. Starting with the era prior to the French & Indian War & going all the way through the War of 1812, we the reader are taken on a comprehensive look at all of the military stockades & what their relevant role was in history. Williams not only describes in detail the better known & more famous forts, but also goes into details of some of the more obscure ones that resided within the states borders. With photos of some of them & locations as to how to find those that there is still a trace of this, this is a well done book that is a fascinating read for any fan of military history or even that of the state of Ohio since I learned quite a bit myself.
