About the Author

Lillah Schwartz

Lillah Schwartz has taken 35 years of yoga practice, yoga therapy, ?and teacher training
experience to print with the publication of Healing Our Backs with Yoga: An Essential Guide to Back Pain Relief. Schwartz, a long time resident of Asheville, North Carolina, operated the first full service yoga studio in Asheville. She was one of the first women business owners in the downtown area and continued to own Lighten Up Yoga Center until a merger with One Center Yoga in 2013. Lillah continues to teach at One Center Yoga as well as running private yoga therapy sessions, yoga teacher trainings and retreats.

In 1991, Lillah produce "Yoga: Your Freedom from Back Pain," a 90 minute self­help DVD for
beginners. This DVD was favorably recommended by Dr Andrew Weil's national self­help
newsletter and Yoga Journal. It is still in distribution today. Lillah followed this DVD up with
"Yoga: Relief for Neck and Shoulder Pain," a 60 minute self­help DVD for all levels, in 2000.
This DVD was favorably recommended by Prevention Magazine and Yoga Journal and is also
still in distribution.

Lillah's yoga teacher training began in 1997 with a formal teacher training program through
Lighten Up Yoga Center, now Yoga with Lillah: Transformation Yoga TrainingTM. She offered
a world class 200 hour and is registered with the National Yoga Alliance as the primary trainer.

In 2004, she established a Yoga Alliance 500 hour program with studies including intermediate, adaptive and therapeutic yoga topics. In 2007, Lillah received the "Recreation Leader of the Year" award from the Asheville Mayor's Committee for Citizens with Disabilities for her Yoga for MS classes. In 2012 Lillah's Transformation Yoga Training became a member school with IAYT, International Association of Yoga Therapists.

In 2009, Lillah began developing the outline for what would become Healing Our Backs with
Yoga: An Essential Guide to Back Pain Relief. From the outline, she taught two full weekend
classes a year for four years to set the yoga poses and education in the book into practice. She then began writing and three years later, Healing Our Backs with Yoga is reaching publication.

In the book, Lillah takes various principles of movement and healing and simplifies them for the reader's understanding. She includes clear instructions along with hints and cautions to guide the reader on his or her healing journey.
