Anne Braff Brodzinsky

Anne Braff Brodzinsky is a child psychologist who has worked in the field of adoption for nearly 35 years. The Mulberry Bird was originally published in 1985, was revised and reprinted in 1995 and has become a classic in the adoption literature for children. Most recently the book has been translated into Italian and revised in English by Jessica Kingsley with new illustrations for publication in the US and Europe.The Mulberry Bird remains unique in that it tells the story of an adoption from the perspective of the birthmother; describing her love for her baby and most importantly, her efforts to provide for him and keep him from harm. Finally, in the face of insurmountable obstacles she chooses an adoptive family for him. The story preserves the life long importance of the birthmother in the mind and heart of the child and in the life of the adoptive family. Dr. Brodzinsky maintains a private practice in psychotherapy and parent consultation in Oakland California where she lives with her family.
