About the Author

Tim Palmer

Tim Palmer is the award-winning author and photographer of twenty-nine books about the American landscape, conservation, adventure travel, and rivers. For his photography work, he has received the Sierra Club's prestigious Ansel Adams award. He has also received the National Wildlife Federation's Conservation Achievement Award and the Lifetime Achievement award from American Rivers. His recent photo books include "America's Great Mountain Trails," and "America's Great River Journeys." Paddler Magazine recognized Palmer as one of the 10 greatest river conservationists of our time and one of the 100 great paddlers of twentieth century. His "Field Guide to Oregon Rivers" won the National Outdoor Book Award and the INDIEFAB adventure book of the year. "California Wild," won the Benjamin Franklin Award for the best book on nature and the environment. Palmer wrote the text for the Yosemite Association's "Yosemite: The Promise of Wildness", which received the Director's Award from the National Park Service as the best book of the year in 1997.
