Matthew C. "Matt" Taibbi (/ta??i?bi/; born March 2, 1970) is an American author and journalist. Primarily known for his work at Rolling Stone Magazine, Taibbi has reported on politics, media, finance, and sports, winning the National Magazine Award for Commentary in 2008. He has authored several books, including the upcoming Insane Clown President: Dispatches from the 2016 Circus (2017) and the New York Times bestsellers The Divide: American Injustice in the Age of the Wealth Gap (2014) , Griftopia: Bubble Machines, Vampire Squids, and the Long Con That Is Breaking America (2010) and The Great Derangement: A Terrifying True Story of War, Politics, and Religion (2009) .Prior to his time at Rolling Stone, Taibbi worked and lived in the former Soviet Union for over a decade. He edited an English-language newspaper in Moscow called the eXile and also played professional basketball in Mongolia. He and his wife Jeanne have two little boys and live in New Jersey.
