Deborah Blumenthal is an award-winning journalist and nutritionist who writes books for children and adults. She has been a regular contributor to The New York Times (including four years as the Sunday New York Times Magazine beauty columnist) , and a home design columnist for Long Island Newsday. Her health, fitness, beauty, travel, and feature stories have appeared widely in many other newspapers and national magazines including New York's Daily News, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Woman's Day, Family Circle, Self, GQ, and Vogue. Blumenthal is the author of sixteen picture books, including, VIOLET VELVET MITTENS WITH EVERYTHING: THE FABULOUS LIFE OF DIANA VREELAND; SAVING STELLA: A DOG'S DRAMATIC ESCAPE FROM WAR; PARROTS, PUGS, AND PIXIE DUST: A BOOK About Fashion Designer Judith Leiber; POLKA DOT PARADE: A Book about Bill Cunningham, the iconic New York Times fashion photographer; and FANCY PARTY GOWNS: The Story of Ann Cole Lowe. Her picture book, THE BLUE HOUSE DOG, was the winner of the Missouri Show Me Readers Award for 2012-2013.
