A young boy's first ride on a bicycle with hand brakes turns out to be much wilder than he ever imagined.
About the Author
A funny, romantic novel by Dan Harder? Why not? He's published all sorts of things -- children's books, books of poetry, books of essays, and dozens of newspaper and radio stories. He's written award-winning, Pulitzer-nominated plays, and even a uniquely "zippered" -- and very romantic -- libretto for the eponymous opera "ZIPPERZ" (CD/Spotify on Warner/Ghostlight records) . To the question: what kind of writing do you most like to do, he responds, "Pretty much anything a pen can scribble" -- which now includes the rom-com novel "Rancho de Amor" published by West Margin Press. The idea didn't come from nowhere. He really was a cowboy for a while, an experience essential to the writing of "Ranch de Amor." He also lived in France where he ran a sailing school, taught skiing, was a translator, taught high school, and was a waiter. Back in the States, he taught Philosophy and English (his two favorite texts to teach side by side: "Heart of Darkness" and "Pride and Prejudice") , and, with his wife, owned a restaurant/catering business in San Francisco where they live. He... well, THEY have two grown sons who most certainly COULD have been wonderful writers but who, beyond Dan's capacity to understand, have become happy scientists. More details at danharder.com
