About the Author

Gill Arbuthnott

Gill Arbuthnott was born in Edinburgh and went to the school made famous in the novel 'The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie' which probably contributed to her decision to become an author. However, she also wanted to earn enough to stay alive, so having studied zoology at St Andrews University, she taught Biology for a very long time while she established a writing career. This began with children's fiction, before swerving into popular science with a sprinkling of history. She now writes fantasy for children, YA and adult audiences as well as a variety of non-fiction. She lives in Edinburgh with her family and Len, her psychopathic cat and hopes, one day, to reach the bottom of her to-be-read pile.
