About the Author

Leslie Frontz

When her parents brought home an original watercolor, Leslie Frontz - then a teenager - was fascinated. The luminous colors against the white paper immediately captured her imagination, but watercolor instruction was not within easy reach. As an adult, she enrolled in a watercolor class at the first opportunity. Soon after, the artist traveled to Maine to take a workshop with the famed Edgar Whitney, who taught students not just how to paint, but also how artists pull together accomplished paintings. Years later, she is still having fun exploring what can be done with paint, water, and paper.

Frontz genuinely likes to teach and continues to balance her work as a studio artist with classes and workshops. She has shared her enthusiasm for art as an instructor at several colleges as well as a local elementary school. The questions, comments, and accomplishments of her many students prompted Frontz to write a book that would teach readers not just what to do, but also how to interpret their own subjects and ideas in watercolor. The artist is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society and has received several awards from this illustrious group. She is also a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Southern Watercolor Society, and the Society of Women Artists in England.
