About this item

Gr. 3-5. The title gets it right. These are crafts kids can do, and, more important, will want to do. True, it's quality over quantity. There are only 10 projects, but they span diverse cultures and countries, including past and present groups from Mexico, Panama, and Central and South America. The projects range from god's eyes and Mayan weavings to a Carnival headdress from Brazil. Even projects that look difficult, such as Mexican pottery, are laid out with simple instructions. One of the best features of the book is that kids get to see each project in colorful, step-by-step photographs. Providing fun for families as well as for kids in the classroom, the book concludes with a short bibliography and several Web sites that offer further information about cultures and crafts.
