About the Author

Judy Colbert

My latest book, Virginia Off the Beaten Path, 12th edition, is due to drop on September 1, 2019.I'll be signing books at the Barnes & Noble, 4300 Montgomery Rd., Ellicott City, 21043 on Saturday, September 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please stop by to say hello.100 Things to Do in Baltimore Before You Die books are available at Pier 5 Hotel, Dangerously Delicious Pies, Rheb's Handmade Chocolates, Babe Ruth Home & Museum, and The Ivy Bookshop.Thank you, all, for helping make my book number one or two in the Baltimore travel category for so many months.Previously, I co-authored "Peaceful Places Washington, D.C." (Menasha Ridge) and I compiled the "Chesapeake Bay Crabs" cookbook, (Pelican Publishing) . It's hard back, 123 recipes (including a crab creme brulee dessert) and lots of photos and stories about crabs and Chesapeake people and history. Before that, I updated the 11th edition of "Virginia Off the Beaten Path" from Globe Pequot Press. I'm keeping busy working on articles for www.bindutrips.com, www.coveyclub.com, WOW Air inflight magazine, Southern Maryland: This Is Living Magazine, Northern Virginia magazine, and other consumer and trade print and online publications.I'm a naturally curious person and I figure if I find something fascinating to me I can try to make it fascinating for you. Primarily, I consider myself a travel writer although my articles rarely appear in travel sections or publications. My articles might be about hotels that provide child-proofing services or where you can buy that wonderfully comfortable pillow from your favorite hotel.I love it when someone reads something I wrote and says, "I didn't know that."I've written about Super Bowl trivia, divorce, temper tantrums, and grocery shopping cart design trends. I have not written about mud wrestling. I've written for the Internet, international and national publications, and regional magazines. A vast army of friends and associates (and some research) keep me informed about what's happening as it's happening. You're encouraged to contribute to my knowledge or suggest a topic or magazine looking for a writer.
