Brian Finch

Following an early career in venture capital, Brian Finch was Director of Business Development for listed leisure and retail companies. He was involved in strategy development and business planning, acquisitions and disposals. One such was the very successful acquisition of Hard Rock Cafe for Pleasurama plc. He co-founded a retail bookselling business and developed its internet arm, acting subsequently as its finance director. He is currently working within a business turnaround team in London.He has an engineering degree from Cambridge University, an MBA from the London Business School and is a qualified accountant. His writing interests focus on effective business planning but also on financial control and how these control systems can improve business performance. His approach is practical and evidence based. His style is clear and straightforward. He has a particular interest in small and medium sized enterprises (SME's) , providing consultancy to help them produce more effective business plans. He has also written on Effective Negotiating and produced the first book on London's Alternative Investment Market soon after it opened. He has produced a book on Corporate Governance in the Financial Times Briefings series and blogs on the subject - finchesblog.
